Cassandra Gold waves hello!

Hi everyone! I'm Cassandra Gold. I hail from a little town in Missouri less than an hour from St. Louis. I've lived in Missouri all my life, and one thing I've learned is that the old saying "If you don't like Missouri weather, wait a few minutes and it'll change" is 100% true. The last couple of weeks of a hot day followed by cold/rain/gloomy (and then another hot day) have certainly made it hard to decide what to wear to work every morning!

In my "real life" I am a middle school teacher. I spend all day trying to get kids to read, write, and study. Good times, lol.

What else do I do? Well, I love to read. I also watch too much TV, play video games, and am addicted to superhero movies.

On nights and weekends, and during the summer, I write m/m erotic romance. I like to write paranormal and contemporary stories, and one day I hope to write a romantic suspense or a historical.

I'm glad to be joining this blog, and I'm very excited to meet other Missouri authors and readers from all over. :)

  1. Cassandra,

It's cool that you are a teacher. I am working on my secondary ed biology degree right now. I've always been a bit leery about writing erotica and teaching, since there is such a stigma to being an erotic writer. I don't plan to advertize the fact at school, but I also don't plan to shy away from booksigning ops in my area either. So it can, and probably will, one day get out.

It's so nice to meet another erotica author/teacher from Mo. LOL

  2. Cool, Michelle! I wonder how many teachers write romance/erotica? There used to be a teacher at a high school near me that wrote for Harlequin.

Personally, I'm not "out" at work as an erotica author--I don't think middle schoolers need to know that. It's a personal decision for everyone based on their school, their students, and their own comfort level. It sounds like you've got the right idea. :)

  3. LOL

I attended a booksigning for an author I read not too long ago, and I was talking with another lady and the author about writing erotica/romance and one of my professors was there at the signing. Heard the whole conversation, or at least the relavent parts. LOL

So I am 'out' to at least one person is town.
